The White House announced Thursday that President Barack Obama will announce his next spending plan Thursday, which will include $1.8 billion in new stimulus packages for Florida and the Midwest.
The Obama administration is expected to announce the package at a rally in Orlando later in the day, when he will make the announcement to a group of more than 100 people at the Orlando Convention Center.
The stimulus package includes $300 million to help boost the economy in Florida, and $200 million for a new national security effort.
The president also will announce additional aid to small businesses and the elderly, along with $1 billion to combat the Zika virus.
President-elect Donald Trump and Vice President Joe Biden will meet with House Speaker Paul Ryan and Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell on Friday.
Trump will be in Florida to announce that he will appoint a new ambassador to Mexico.
The state’s Senate has approved the appointment, but it must be approved by the governor, a process that has not been complete.
The appointment will be made on Thursday.
